About the bath
The baths opened on 15 June 2026, following several years of construction. They replaced the old public baths, which had been purchased by a private investor and demolished.

The water and its healing properties
The mineral water in the village of Banya (Razlog region) is slightly mineralised, hydrocarbonate-sodium, sulphate, fluoride and silicate, with a high natural temperature (up to 58°C) and a strongly alkaline reaction (pH ~9.3).
Physico-chemical properties
• High temperature (thermal): It emerges at a temperature between 37°C and 59°C, making it ideal for balneotherapy without the need for additional heating.
• Strongly alkaline (pH ~9.3): The high alkalinity helps to neutralise acidity in the body and has a beneficial effect on the tissues.
• Low mineral content: The water is ‘soft’ and pleasant to the touch (known as ‘gentle water’), with no overpowering or unpleasant odour.
• Rich composition: The key constituents are sodium, bicarbonates, sulphates, fluorine and metasilicic acid.
Therapeutic and restorative properties
• For bones and joints: Reduces inflammation and pain associated with arthritis, rheumatism, slipped discs and recovery from fractures.
• For the nervous system: It soothes the peripheral nervous system (neuralgia, radiculitis) and helps with physical and mental strain (stress).
• For the skin: The silicon and sulphates it contains stimulate cell regeneration, improve skin elasticity and help with psoriasis and dermatitis.
• For the respiratory tract: Inhalations with this water provide relief from chronic sinusitis, pharyngitis and bronchitis.
