About the bath
The bath is outside the village of Eleshnitsa, by the road towards the village of Banya, Razlog Municipality, on the bank of the Mesta River.
The site is a small complex of three buildings. A single-storey reception building and office by the Eleshnitsa–Banya road is the main landmark for arriving visitors. On the other side of the road, towards the river, are the single-storey bath building, a two-storey building with a laundry, changing rooms and other service rooms, and a lovely outdoor plunge pool with a view of the river and the beautiful ridges on the far bank.
Right next to the bath is the borehole from which the mineral water comes. It was built in 1952–54 by “Vodokanalproekt” as a shaft well.
Each of the bath's two sections (women's and men's) has one mineral water pool and 4–5 basins with seats (kurni), and its own changing room.
On the far bank of the Mesta, reached by a pretty rope bridge, is the chapel of St Varvara, next to which a stone plunge pool has been built, free of charge. It is fed by a separate spring right next to or beneath the chapel and is used all year round.
A modest complex for using the mineral water which, if spruced up a little, could become even more charming: it lies in untouched, beautiful nature, and its buildings are modest but could become truly cosy and attractive.
