About the bath
Rakitovo has been known as a resort for its mineral water since ancient times. Mineral pools and outdoor plunge pools were built before 1944, and under socialism the mineral bath in the centre of the town was built. The bath is a large, solid single-storey building with two sections, each with a mineral pool, bathtub rooms, showers, stone basins (kurni), changing rooms and physiotherapy rooms. It is in very poor condition. Years ago the municipality signed an unfavourable contract for its renovation, which ended in court cases won by the municipality, but unfortunately the renovation never happened. The bath is closed and does not work.
