About the bath
The Women's Bath, which no longer works, is in the central part of the Lazhene quarter, next to the municipal mineral beach built in the early 1930s. The old Ottoman bath is thought to have been built in the 17th century. The building was rectangular with a hexagonal vault, and in one corner there was a hearth for making coffee. Long ago, when the bath was made of wood and began to fall apart, local Muslim benefactors put up a stone building in its place. In 1918 it was rebuilt, and in 1948 the bath's changing room was built. In 2001 the bath was leased under a 35-year concession to “M&T – PROYCHEVI” OOD. In recent years it has been unlawfully swallowed up by a private hotel that has not worked for years. It is unclear what has been preserved from the different periods of the bath's existence.
