About the bath
The project was started by Tsar Ferdinand. The Sulphur Bath – a monumental building for its time – was built in a large park near a Roman-era captage, to a design by the Italian architect Luigi Pietris. Local people and the municipality of the village of Kamenitsa donated part of their land for it. The architect was inspired by the baths of Karlovy Vary. Construction began in 1912, but had to stop when the Balkan Wars broke out. The building was completed after the First World War, under the government of Aleksandar Stamboliyski (1920–1921). Dozens of labour-service workers from the local population helped build the bath and the park. The story of the bath's entrance door is interesting. Angel Pendarov (“Lukiya”), a close friend of Aleksandar Stamboliyski, liked the doors of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sofia and negotiated for a long time to be given one such door for the Sulphur Bath. Once he got it, he took it by train to Saranbey (Septemvri) station, and from there by carriage to the village of Kamenitsa. Unfortunately, years ago the door was replaced with another. The building had two wings, a men's and a women's section, but today only one wing is used; the other has been converted into a room with bathtubs.

The water and its healing properties
You can find all the benefits of the water on this website (https://voda.velingrad.bg/m-bani/9-siarna-bania/)
The water has a sulphate-sodium-hydrocarbonate-silicic-fluoride composition with traces of calcium, magnesium and iron. The spring is 88 °C; for the bath the water is cooled to 38–39 °C. The total mineralisation is about 570 mg/litre and the pH about 8.4. Almost 9 mg/litre of fluoride makes the water suitable for preventing osteoporosis. The water is used to treat gynaecological conditions, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis and joint diseases. In the pool you should be immersed up to the waist, and in the bathtubs up to the heart. There are also outdoor plunge pools fed by the thermal springs of Kamenitsa nearby.
