About the bath
Gradeshki Mineralni Bani is a complex of several municipally owned buildings and a recreation area. One of the buildings houses a classic public bath with a men's and a women's section. Each section has one stone basin (kurna) and a therapeutic pool. There are also 4 rooms to stay overnight and a shared kitchen. The pool is filled and drained after each visitor. Because the water from the borehole is so hot (over 60 °C), it is mixed with tap water from the Kresna water supply.
A separate building houses the therapeutic pools, the so-called Mud Baths or Sand Baths, with a men's and a women's section. These are two natural thermal pools where the water rises from beneath the sand. The temperature in the therapeutic pools is 37–38 °C. Mineral water from the borehole is piped in to the spring water at the bottom of the pools to keep the temperature higher. The baths are well ventilated, so radon does not build up in the air. The buildings are worn and in poor condition.
