About the bath
The “Simitli” mineral bath is easy to reach, near the town park. In front of the bath there is a car park with spaces for visitors.
You can also get to Simitli by train; the station is not far from the mineral bath.
The bath has two classic bathing halls, separate for men and women, 24 individual bathtubs (themed by colour – yellow, blue, green), a sauna and hydromassage baths. It is excellently kept, tidy and clean, with great service.
In the spacious, green foyer with seats for resting is the ticket office, where a detailed price list is displayed. On the walls there are attractive, easy-to-read information boards about the composition of the water and advice on using the bath.
According to the bath attendant, the mineral water is not suitable for drinking, but it helps with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, joint diseases, arthritis and more.
The changing rooms are spacious and clean, with nice-looking lockers. One shortcoming is that the lockers cannot be locked.
Before the main room there is an anteroom with sinks and toilets.
The bathing halls have cubicles with showers and a plunge pool. The water in the plunge pool is about 38 °C. There are no stone basins (kurni), but there is a tiled bench. The room is well ventilated and the visit leaves a really wonderful feeling.
History of the bath:
The mineral bath building was put up back in 1968, but after many years in very poor condition, the municipality took action and in 2004 granted the building and its land under a 35-year concession, with an annual fee of BGN 33,500. The concessionaire, former minister Rumen Bikov, invested 3 million leva in renovating the building, but in 2017 the concession was ended by mutual agreement.
A new tender was announced for 10 years at an annual rent of BGN 24,000. It was won by the Sofia company “Banshtitsa” EOOD, which now runs the bath. Source: “Struma” newspaper
Next to the new mineral bath building in Simitli are the remains of the oldest bath in the town. In the building itself there is a captage with water at 53 °C.
