About the bath
The Thracians and the Romans already knew the benefits of the water that rises around today's Pancharevo. After conquering the Kingdom of Macedonia, the Romans set up a military camp nearby, and they were the first to build a bath here, with seven pools. In Ottoman times the area was also famous for its water: the Turkish baths (hammams) around today's Pancharevo were among the most visited. The bath in its present form was completed in 1945 on old Roman foundations. The water comes from two springs. One is at the bottom of Pancharevo Lake, on whose shore the bath stands; the other rises right next to the bath building. There are fountains nearby where people fill bottles with mineral water.
It was renovated in 2017 and is clean and very well kept.
Each of the bath's two sections (women's and men's) has two mineral water pools, one at 42 ºC and the other at 37 ºC. Each section has 6 showers and twice as many stone basins with seats (kurni). There are also family bathtubs and hydromassage baths, where you can use essential oils and mineral salts, recommended both for pleasure and for treatment (sold on site).
Behind the bath is Infinity SPA, and opposite it is the outdoor mineral pool “Korali” – for now the only one of its kind in Sofia. The water temperature varies from 29 ºC to 34 ºC.
It is 25 minutes by car from the centre of Sofia, or about an hour by public transport.

The water in Pancharevo rises at about 49 degrees and is clear, colourless and odourless. Its composition is described in detail at the entrance. The water is good for disc disease, herniated discs and arthritis, and for people with urological, gynaecological and neurological conditions. It is high in calcium and magnesium and is the only water in the country suitable for small children and babies.
