About the bath
This is the oldest bath in Sofia that survives to this day. There are records of the mineral bath from more than 350 years ago. It was used for over 300 years, until 2010. Since then it has been falling into ruin and its water runs into the sewer. In front of the bath there is a small, dilapidated fountain for filling bottles, and that is considered to provide access to the mineral water. In March 2020 the Ministry of Health offered the building for purchase to Sofia Municipality, but the mayor, Ms Fandakova, signed a refusal to acquire the property, arguing that a new road is planned and the bath will be demolished.
