About the bath
The bath worked until the early 1990s. Later the building was sold and is now privately owned. The borehole was left to its fate, unguarded, and people filled it with rubbish. The local people and the mayor of Slavyanovo want to restore the bath and get it working again, but by now the chances of that happening are close to nil. In a 2008 issue of “Dnevnik”, in an article by Velichka Petrova, we read: “A modern spa centre will be built on the site of the old mineral bath in the town of Slavyanovo, Pleven region. This was announced by Stoyan Ibrishimov, manager of the investor company Si-Kompleks. This requires a major renovation of the building and a complete replacement of the borehole installations of the healing spring. The size of the investment has not yet been set, but more than BGN 10 million will be needed, as the site has been neglected for about 20 years, Ibrishimov added. In practice the spring has not existed for years, because the borehole is badly damaged. If a certificate is issued once the water is brought back to the surface, the spring will again become public property, and the municipality will have to repay part of the money spent on repairing the borehole. In 2003 Si-Kompleks bought the mineral bath from Pleven Municipality at auction for the symbolic sum of BGN 5,700. The company was then the only bidder for the building. It consists of a foyer, two pools, ten individual cubicles, a boiler room and a furnace room, with a total built-up area of 458 sq m.”
